let me guess...SBC..350... no, couldn't be... too common...
Actually thats right but.....
A- sorry I should have stated NOT the 49, but my dad has a pair of 1949 1 tons, which put together would make a mint one. One has a great cab other one has a good box.
B- turning into 3/4 ton 4x4 using axles from the 69
C- motor yes it is a 350, but it is going to be a diesel 350 no gasoline. My dad has one, I'll have to rebuild it 1500-2000 in parts but ohwell. I drove this motor in a 1950 Chev 1/2 ton for 3 months back in highschool nothing great on power but would run on a thimbul.
D- only part missing is a 4x4 tranny and transfer case but shouldn't be too hard to find one lol
Oh man Ryan dont use a 5.7 diesel, they are garbage. There is fixes to get them to be decent (I dont remember exactly what they are offhand) but even when fixed they are a poor engine. At least get a good 6.2 chevy those were rock solid engines.
that it is snow. I love diesels in teh older trucks, its just gonna be a driver anyway, drop a 350 in cause thats what ya have and one day maybe itll get upgraded if ya wanna tow or drive harder.
So your gonna spend $600 on an adapter which is only made for a NP208 and Chevy turbo 400 and 700R4. You do know this can't be solved by a simple metal plate. Ford transfer cases use different input splines (31) than chevy transmissions (27 or 32). You do you can't make a clocking ring to rotate the Chevy transfer case to the right side. Doing this puts the oil pickup at the top which can't pickup up oil. The transfer case won't last 50 km as they aren't splash lubricated like a manual transmission.

Yeah ryan im by no means telling you what to do but chevy made a 5.7l diesel in the halfton in the later nineties i believe and they didnt last long hunk of junk but do what you want man!!.. your money your truck
Im pretty sure it was a 6.2 Diesel in the late nineties for Chev dustin, and they were great motors for driving, not much to tow with, but great if its usually in driver duty with an occasional light pull.
I wont lie we pulled some very illegal loads with ours and it still always kept on chugging along, although quite a bit slower than normal.
