96 Explorer warm starting problems
Hello all, new to this section but not new to the site. My wife drives a 96 Explorer 4.0 with 186,000 miles on the clock. IT has been developing a warm starting problem which is steadily getting worse. When warm it starts but misses and will only stay running if you keep your foot on the throttle, will come out of it in 10-20 seconds and runs fine. Acts like over rich but no smoke, exhaust smells wierd. Only does this when warm, cold starts are fine. No check engine lights or anything and it runs well except for fthis warm start deal. Today she got a check gauge light when starting warm but all gauges were OK. She is a stickler for maintainance, fluids and filters get changed per schedule. Any Ideas or anything I can check without a code reader? Thanks in adavnce.
