I have put alot of thought into converting my 1994 2WD F150 into a 4x4, I have all the front end components from a 1995 that I scaped. I just haven't commited myself yet.
Anybody been down this road? wise idea ya or na!!
As far as I can tell it's fairly straight forwardto do this, Just want to make sure I am not opening a can of worms I regret.
its not just slapping in the front end, you also need to install a transfer case which means puting a shifter into the cab, you need to make sure the gear ratios are the same (probably 3.55)
No I hear ya, I should have mentioned I have a transfer case, linkage and shifter. As for the gear ratio I would have to compare my rear end tags to see if they are the same from my 95 4x4.
The 4x4 rear axles are 3" wide(which I have as well) but I added a leaf to my 2WD last year, will that be sufficient?
Yeah, you can use the rear 2wd springs. If you do decide to go with the 3" wide spring you have to change the spring and spring hangers along with shackles. But the 2wd springs should be fine. You may need a 2" block under them though to make it level.
