I purchased a 2001 SuperCrew in July. The color is midnight blue and I am having a lot of problems with the paint scratching very easily. A small stick/branch hit the hood and scratched it down to the metal. I brushed up against the side of the truck and the rivet on my jeans put a 2" sratch in the paint that will not buff out. There are many other instances that I will spare you and not mention, but is anyone else having this problem with their paint? I have talked to the dealer and they say, it is dark blue, it will show scratches. Well, yeah they are right, but not like this. I have 2 friends with SC's, 1 Red, 1 Dark Green, they are neither one having this problem. The one who ownes the red truck took it and had a place buffed out where someone had keyed it. Anyway, anyone else with this?
I've got a White Crew.
No problems. My wife has a new Econoline Dark green and it scratches pretty easy.. Alot of it is the color. Imagine your crew in black..
We did get the Simonize treatment on them when we got them. I was not a believer in those paint treatment packages. But I gave it a try this time. I hate to admit it but I do believe now that it does help.
I have hit my crew in the garage with stuff while doing something and thought before I looked "Oh boy, that will leave a mark" and no damage at all. It does put a some kind of a teflon-like coating on the paint to make what ever is hitting it to glance or slide off.
N0.. I don't work for or represent any companies that make these products.
I have a Lincoln and an older Bronco that are midnight blue and both of them have very tender paint. I think you will find it is the color that is the problem. No problems with my white SCrew 2002.
I just noticed today that my 2001 toreador red SCrew has alot of little paint chips all over the hood and front fenders. There are also alot of pits in the windsheild so its not just a paint issue. Now I'm trying to figure out how in the hell it happened!:-(
