Hello all. I recently replaced my shifter **** on my 2000 f150 5 speed. After looking at it and my replacment i wanted this is how i did it.
I took the old **** off.
I then drilled a 1/4 hole in the stick with an electric hand drill.
I then tapped the hole i drilled with a 5/16-18 tap(which was the hardest part).
I then guesstimated the length of the threaded rod i would need and cut it to length.
i put 2 nuts on the rod and threaded it into the shifter till it stopped and removrd the nuts and then using the adapter with the hurst know i threaded on the new ****.
Be aware that doing it this was will increase the height of the shifter/**** by about 1 inch. but also if i sell my truck i can take this one off and put the factory back on..Balke
