Are you putting in a commercial hitch like BW or a custom built one?

Well a couple days before you start, get underneath with some penetrating oil and spray all the bed bolts. They put lock-tite on these from the factory, then they get rusted, and it can sometimes be a real nightmare getting them all out. What we have to do alot of times is get underneath with a torch and heat them up to get them to bust loose. Sometimes they still wont come loose and we end up cutting the head off. You may get lucky though and they might all come right out. And you will need an impact, I cant remember the bit size.

I'm not sure on the size, but just be careful on those torx bits, they tend to strip really easy

Its a T50. Buy a few of em because you WILL break them trying to remove the bolts. I got one out and snapped the bit on the second one. Tried a few more and they wouldnt budge so I gave up. If you use an impact gun, try to get an impact bit. The regular ones will simply snap if you try to use them on the gun.

If the torx bits break, you can weld a nut to the bolt head. Then you can use a socket. You will have to buy new bolts though.

Had a hitch company install my gooseneck, the type where the ball is on a hinge plate and can be rotated down and out of sight. "They didn't remove the bed", they made an "H" frame from 1/2 inch bar stock, cut a square openning in the bed, then bolted the hitch to the frame, bed and the trucks rail frames.

Hope this helps, Walt

I broke 6 bits on one bolt! Advance Auto gave me back my money too, lifetime warranty! Oh...WD-40 is worthless, use PB Blaster and alot of it! I ended up grinding two sides of the bolt head with my dremel so I could get my big cresent wrench on it and it finally broke loose and backed out.
