Sway bar links

I have read on here about the sway bar link ends making a popping noise when the bushings are worn, so I checked mine to see if they were. Guess what, they are!! I know they are a dealer item and you can't just buy the bushings, but energy suspension does. I read that they are hard to get out. Would some of you chime in and let me know about the energy suspension kit and how hard is it to remove the old bushings. Thanks guys and gals!

The best way is to have the old pressed out, me however, never does things the easy way. I chose the home method which consist of some sawing (rubber),burning the rubber, and a lot of plier action. Works fine, just don't overheat the metal. As far a energy suspension goes, good stuff.

IF your truck is lifted skyjacker makes a replacement set starting at 4inch. They come with eurethane bushing and are a WHOLE lot easier than trying to get the old bushing out. If you have a two wheel drive i think moog makes a oem replacement, that bolt in and are cheaper than the dealer also.

You can also get them from NAPA, reasonably priced. I replaced them about 2 years ago and there about wore out 'cause the noise is returning.

Thanks Benny2002. No lift, but 4x4.
DSLFVR, I tried my local NAPA and they could only find the bushings for the bar, not the end links. I called all the parts stores in my area and nobody had the end link bushings. I looked at the parts store websites and the only one who had anything listed was O'Rielly's and it was the energy suspension bushings. I called the store and they didn't seem to want to mess with looking it up and ordering them. I think I'll try to find one of the supporting vendors here on FTE and see what my options are, unless someone has other avenues for me to pursue. I am open to suggestions and do appreciate the information that I get from everyone here.
zx250, Thanks for your input on energy suspension!

Someone tell me where/how to post rep points?

I have replaced the links my self, with OEM and it was not a bad price. What are they asking for the links?

Jason,

The Ford dealer here wanted approx. $72.00 each, 1 side was a little more, 1 a little less. I can't believe you have to by the whole piece and that it wasn't designed to replace the bushings. Sounds like greagin might have the ticket from powerstrokeshop.com, not bad at that price. Now I'm going to have to decide between them and energy suspension. Thanks guys!

Well if you can wait a few weeks i might be able to make a deal. I just replaced my junk bushings with the energy suspension ones. Then i kinda smacked myself in the forehead when i decided to buy a 4" spring lift for my truck which will include new longer links. Until then i will use them, but i would be willing to trade my stockers and some change. It was all a 20 ton shop press wanted!

Haha! That stock wheel and tire look so much like a doughnut in that huge fender well and right next to the swamper.

Sory, I just couldn't help but laugh. Now watch, I'll have my first blowout with cooper tires...

Karma! But since you said it, it won't happen. I ditched the stock spare. I now have 38.5" all around and two spares the same size.

Sorry, didn't mean to hijack the sway bar link thread. My truck is lifted with an 8" Skyjacker Z-Link kit and it has nice cadmium sway bar links with urethane bushings.

Jim.

I can believe that. The machine shop that pressed my bushings out used what looked like a 60 ton electric hydraulic and it looked like it was straining on a couple of them.

Maybe I have this wrong, but your talking about sway bar links, not the sway bar it self? Two bolts to connect the link is about 8 inches long give or take, installed vertically.
Edit: I' tried to find a receipt, but it's some where in an 05 or 06 business file. I know it wasn't $72 each, maybe for both.

strokin_it 7.3, Let me know what you decide and how much, I might very well be in the market still.
jhand 124, They specifically said two seperate prices, the one for the passenger side was almost a dollar higher if memory serves me correct.
