Casting #'s,Profanity Removedis *X-8*????

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 21-Oct-02 AT 00:58 AM (EST)]I have an engine that doesn't have ANY of the usual casting #'s on it, all it has is X-8. The heads don't have any casting #'s on the exhaust side. The block has no casting #'s by the starter. All I can find is X8 on the heads & the block.. any ideas???

No digicam & I have a steam powered computer

The heads look the same as some ThunderJet heads I have sitting here, just has the weird casting #'s..

Was just a bit curious, don't see any trick parts on it.

Not to be speculating, but it may be possible that you have some factory experimental heads. I have a FE 427 friend who has some oddball intakes that are Ford pieces and only have a X or maybe a little more.
I cannot find the website, and it may be that there is not a website for them, but there is a business in michigan called total performance, and the guy who runs it has a lot of dealings with ford performance parts, goes back a long way. The number for his shop is(was?) in the Ford Motorsport catalog, but I cannot find mine so you will have to have your own adventure and call a dealer or drive and get a catalog.
Don't get your hopes up, heck, they may just be service replacements.
OR, on second thought;no, those are just worthless service replacments, and I will give you 50 bucks for everything, and don't mention these parts to anyone else, I can be there in ten minutes to pick them up......
(just joking....call, who knows?)

My book refers to an "X" as a high nickel content "FE" block, there is no mention of a 429 with that designation. I am very curious to find out what this block is.

Usually X coded parts were deisnated as muscle car or experimental parts. You very well could have a FoMoCo mystery motor.
