I was in the USAF based in south Miami, Fla. I bought one of the first 1965 coupes in Florida. It had a V-8 and was painted something like a forest green color. The second day I drove it 27 hours home on leave. I paid about $2400.00. I trade a 1961 Impala, 348, three twos, 3/4 cam, 4-speed, 9 miles per gallon. Loved both cars. When I was in Vietnam my wife sold the car, it's gone and she's gone. Every car/truck has a place. Have a great day, chuck
I "like" cars... my first street legal car was a 65 Mustang 289 4 speed.. (wish I still had it..)
BUT... That is an insane price... I don't care if it was the LAST Mustang on the planet.
That's just crazy....
Maybe my 53 will be worth something some day????? LOL
At least there's one Mustang someone thinks is worth a lot of money. I have a 66 coupe that's been sitting in a barn for the last 22 years (my first car) but haven't had the time or money to dive into it yet. As far as I know the values have been fairly stagnant so that's held me back as well. That's a nice car but 5 1/2 million? Yeesh. That's probably over 1000 times more than mine is worth.
From what I`ve previously read the first Mustang was sold somewhere in Canada and bought back by Ford.
Also there is no such thing as a 64.5 Mustang, all Mustangs were officially sold and tittled as 65`s.
Regardless if these facts are correct or not this one isn`t worth near the coin being asked.....I`d say he`s afew months too early with this ad, it`s not April 1st yet.
Five and a half million is way too much money. I think the Barrett-Jackson has got people paying way too much for cars. Granted nobody else has the number one Mustang, except you if you have the cash... I guess I will keep our Mustang, hey you never know what it may be worth someday.
Jeff
I love cars\trucks, mustangs\ vetts, etc.. are cool, unfortunatly Barret Jackson is a buisness that does very well to sell things to people who WANT them, not necessarily for what the actual value is...but more for what someone who has the resources is willing to lay out for them.
It is fun to watch the autos for sale on the show anyway!
B-J has become a place that the rich can get on TV to show the world that they are rich and that money is no object and it is not helping our hobby. I refuse to watch it because I don't want to increase thier ratings. Like I make a big difference. hehehe
