So, did you take pictures of the two bumpers? I assumed too much too, with my pull-out switch on my '99. Just bought fogs today to find out I have no wiring and probably the wrong bumper too-
No I completely forgot to take pics. The only difference was the inside "lip" of the bumper. On the 01 bumper I got the lips were wider for the lights to have something to screw in to. It would be really easy to duplicate with some flat stock and sheet metal screws.
Thanks for the input guys, closing this loop (and this old thread?)
I have no place on my bumper to attach the lights either. I have no intention of paying good money to swap an "OBS" bumper. If I was to do a bumper swap I'd go with 2005 front, and then these lights won't fit anyway.
My thoughts were to remove the bumper and weld on a little flat stock to mount the lights. I don't think the burnt chrome would matter. Then I would run a relay harness through the parking lights.
But, like Ray and Pop, I think I have another project unlikely to happen anytime soon. If at all. And I just paid too much for the lights, too ($75)
That's a good idea of tieing into the parking lights for the fog lights to come on. I got an 05 bumper with fogs and wanting to hook them up soon. I'll be doing this, thanks guys.
The local Ford parts guy told me they made 2 different bumpers in 2000 one for light one with out ( sounded dumb to me).Maybe partsguy ed knows for sure
I have saw 2000s with driving lights. The retro kit from Ford comes with a new switch and harness but is pricey.I don't know what it did for a bumper,it wasn't included in the kit
I've had a new set of new lights laying on the shelf for 8 years with no place to bolt bottom of bracket and too lazy to build anything and wasn't going to buy a new bumper, the one on there is still doing a good job
I did once figure a way to mount them by fabbing a bottom bracket, but never done it.now I would have to re-engineer it,but as my eyes get worse I could use some more light on these mountain roads
It's starting to get warmer out maybe I'll give it another try soon
Honestly I found they really didn't provide a whole bunch more lighting. I guess I kind of did this one for the updated look. But they do shed some additional light to the side and cleaned up a couple dark spots that were closer to the truck in the headlight beam pattern. I do need to adjust them a bit, but it's really a pain because there isn't enough room to get even a stubby screwdriver behind the light.
What about installing a new switch assembly that includes the active fog switch? They are available on Amazon as well as eBay. I imaginethat it would involve some splicing of wires. I have a 2000 F250 XLT and I'm installing some nice PIAA compacts on the bumper. [My bumpers are not designed for OEM driving or fog lights] I got the #2091 PIAAs from Amazon. They don't require much room. Saw them in an accessory store--small but mighty! I don't want to have a separate switch in the cab, and like Paul and Keith, assumed that since the light switch pulled out...that it was pre-wired. There are no wires leading to the area behind the licence plate. Suggestions?

Be aware that at some point, Ford changed the shape of the opening in the lower instrument panel that is the cut-out for the switch. It may have happened at the same time that the connectors were changed or the fog light switch (pull-out) was installed, or maybe both, but there ARE different-shaped switches out there.
Just something to research before plunking down your bucks.
I posted this on another thread, but wanted to close here--where I started. I just finished an installation of PIAA 2091 fog lights on my 2000 F250 Power Stroke XLT. There is confusion on this issue because on this model year the SWITCH on the dash pulls OUT--as if to turn on optional fogs. Unfortunately, there is no wiring behind that switch to support fog lights. The PIAA 2000 lights are small and come with a mounting bracket--easy. I placed them on either side of the license. After a lot of consideration and consultation with an auto electrician--AND a call to PIAA, I wired the harness as per the instructions, except that I connected the switch-activating white wire to the driver's side front parking light instead of to an ACC hot wire. I've tucked all the excess wiring [including the kit's on/off switch] in front of the driver's side battery. The kit's relay and fuse are intact. The switch that came with the kit is turned "ON", and stays in the on position--but does NOT turn the fogs on unless the trucks's dash light switch is turned on. This way, the fog lights are on whenever parking/low or high beams are on. I realize that it is technically illegal in many states to have fogs and high beams on at the same time, but I like it. The auto tech said he wires it like that all the time and his customers don't get tickets. I hope this helps, and cheers to all of you on this website who help each other out! And Pop, I'd sent you a Round Tuit if I had an extra! [Seems I saw one at a garage sale one time....] Edog.
