I am sure I have read someone here found a simple, clean way to install a CB radio on the interior roof. I have done some searching, but can not find the thread. Ring any bells?
Other ideas for mounting locations would be welcome, although underdash is out of the question.
There is a headliner with a sound system (4 speakers in the rear of headliner) and a mount in front for your radio or I have seen a CB put in there. They have them at broncograveyard.com I am getting one for my truck as soon as I finish the major parts of the resto.
I mounted mine in the center hanging down from the roof, I removed the headliner screwed the mount to the center support of the roof then cut two slits in the headliner for the mount to protrude through, I ran all the wiring up the door pillars and hid it behind the door seals and under the headliner, once the headliner was reinstalled I bolted in the CB and hooked up the wires. I mounted a remote speaker back by the dome light and ran a PA under the hood, I mounted the mic directly to the CB. Its a super clean look and works great.
Thanks for the pics. This is what I was looking for. You can get the wires down the inside of the pilar, as I learned when I put roof lights on. Note I am installing a 23 channel setup. Remember those? Gotta stay old school!
Thanks for the compliment 73f100! When I restore it I will run the wiring inside the pillar like nuwave suggested, instead of under the door seals, didn't know that could be done, great idea!
