I have an `85 F350 with 460 engine. I have removed or disconnected all emission devices including the air pumps. It does not have a cat.
I have just purchased an Edelbrock 1406 (600 cfm) and had anticipated that in the process of installing the new carb that I would remove the EGR plate that is sandwiched between the intake manifold and the carb. I was going to install a standard spacer in place of the EGR plate but, I find the spacer will not cover the exhaust port that provides the EGR with exhaust gases. That port extends out past the standard base of the carb so it would be open, exposed, and leaking exhaust gases if the carb (or spacer) is installed directly on the manifold.
What options are available for removing the EGR plate and retaining the stock manifold?
I drove a bolt in mine and welded it in place... JB Weld would likley do the trick too.
