Smile New Project

I live in GA, but originally from KY. Brought down a 1970 F-100 Ranger XLT that used to belong to my Dad (deceased). I am going to try to restore it, but it's got problems. I'm going back with original as much as possible, right down to the 3 on the tree. The old 302 has been scrapped so I will need to find a nother one. I thought about finding one in a junk yard and rebuilding it. Do you think I should do that, or buy a remanufactured long block? I would also appreciate any helplocating body parts. It has "some" rust.

Welcome to FTE!

I have a complete 302 but it from a 79 F100 but it only has 48000 actual miles on it.
I lost the 3 spedd tranny back in 92. I have not decided if I will keep it or sell it.
I replaced the 302 with a 4.6 32V DOHC Lincoln engine.

You can find some parts through National Parts Depot (sponsors of the site), LMC truck, or your older local salvage yards. Never checked to see if Blue Oval Truck Parts has body parts.

302s are for sale all over the place, you have choices. Depending on the size of your budget there is something out there that will fit. Give yourself some time to find one. You can find one with several years of life still in it for maybe a couple hundred bucks if you look and shop carefully.

good luck

John
