Hello guys, I'm new here. I just got a truck to play with acouple of weeks ago. The title and the door tag say it is a '69 f100, the 8 lug axles and the huge brakes say it's a f250. To top it off it has a 460 in it with I think a c6 (been too cold and wet to go out and crawl underneath to get numbers). So it is a mongrel but so far I love it.Now for the down side, it shows almost no oil pressure at idle when it warm. When going down the road it stays at about the center of the O in the word oil on the guage. It seems to run good and have plenty of power but I'm guessing it needs rebuilt. In the meantime I found '71 390 in the local paper, will this bolt right in or is the bellhousing and or mounts different? Or should I just run it like it is till it starts making funny noises? Thanks alot and I'll probably be bugging you guys alot. Mike

The 390 wouldnt be a direct bolt in. As long as the oil pressure is in the normal range on the gauge I wouldnt worry about it if you're happy with the way it runs. Just make sure the oil is topped off and ride it out
Sorry gnwalker, but the 390 will not bolt in without tranny and engine perches being changed also. Two completely different engine families.
I do agree that I wouldn't worry too much just yet, as long as it isn't loosing oil by the bucket or knocking real bad, I would drive on and enjoy the big gas loving power house. IMHO
