New too!
So, about myself and my truck as an introduction.
I'm a finish carpenter/millwright w/ a 3000' workshop and live in southwest CT. I'm a decent mechanic on bikes and cars. Started by putting dads leafblower motor in a Rupp when I was too small to pick it up, @ 9 or 10 years old. Got a belting .... but I got to keep it.
Lil' Red is my Hard Working Truck, and reliable companion of 20 years.
FWD '87 F250, 460, 10.25w/ 4.10's, tow package ect... Old school w/ no computers other than the spark box and ABS.
Stuck with me through all my youthful indiscretions and a marriage.
Aside from the usual maintenence and wear items I've never had any problems other than a cracked head (testosterone, and a BIG ticket for 127.....my bad)
Well, with just over 300k She's finally loosing oil pressure and looking for a heart transplant.
Can't ask for more than that.
Yeah, I know....but w/ the future of the current building market and the above mentioned divorce I'm not looking to get married to the bank, nor do I have $35k burning a hole in my pocket. All my life, if I can't afford it I don't need it.
Really the truck is functionally fine, w/o rust. Strong and solid, if a little cosmetically challenged.
That might just describe me too.....
So I've been lurking this forum a couple of days looking for ideas as to whether to just slap in a longblock or build up something and make it mine, before it's too late.
Glad to be a new member of this community!
Jim
BTW,
anybody notice this server's glitchy today? I thought it was my firewall, but I turned it off and it's made no difference.
It`s great to hear that your truck has treated you well, you must have treated it very well too.
Lately the FTE site has had some glitchs, it`s not your computer.
Be sure to post your intro in the local CT chapter soon.
