Airbags
Hi all,
I am a first time poster, but I have been lurking in the shadows for a while just reading posts.
I am interested in an older Ford truck as my first vehicle, mostly because I would like an IDI (preferrably turbo, if not, i would try to scrape the $ together to buy a sidewinder or ATS.) Anyway, I read somewhere that 1994 (also last year for IDI) was the first year that airbags were offered on Ford trucks. My parents seem to think that a truck lacking airbags might not be OK with them. I do have reasons for wanting an IDI. 1. I would be tight on $ so if something went, I couldn't afford to fix a PSD. 2. I am mechanically inclined, and like to work on engines, though I do lack diesel experience, and I don't have the computer stuff to work on a PSD. It would tow a two horse trailer and a small boat (about 1500#). Wow, this thread started with just wanting to ask if there were airbags available before 1994, but I guess it turned into a monster. I guess I am also wondering if the diesel is worth the novelty for me. Oh yeah, I really want a manual and 4 wheel drive. The gearhead in me is bored with autos.
