Ok, I'm no mechanic, but I'm learning. I have not actually opened it all the way up yet and have never done the cooling system before, besides a water pump. I got some leaking from under the front end of my truck. It looks to me like tranny fluid. So, I investigated and it looks to be coming from one of these two fittings(nipple is actually broken underneath the hose). Are these the tranny coolers or are they an add on to the tranny cooler. I have a link to the 6.0 cooler and it says that it is an add on to my OEM(?). Is the actual tranny cooler inside this mess some where that I am not seeing until I actually take it all apart? Any input is appreciated.
Yes, actually they are. They were tied up with zip ties and some of them have broke(imagine that). Some of the fins are bent up as you can imagine. They would be add on coolers, right? So, If I get the 6.0, it would replace those.
yes..take them 2 out and start over.if you dont tow alot..a 6.0 cooler will do you well....thats not the rad...(my mistake)...its your inter cooler...get that fixed soon...they shouldnt be hitting any thing at all..
Thank you very much. Yes, I have been looking at these since I bought the truck (not in a good way). So, this incident is the juice I need to buy the 6.0. While I have the brush guard and the grill off might as well do a couple of the other mods too. Is the 6.0 the best bang for the buck or do you support another choice. Thanks again I was worried this was going down as an unanswerd post.
is there lines going to a cooler down bellow them 2 ??? the stock cooler sits lower whats wrong with them 2 ??? they will work..but need to be instaled a lot better then that...
The top nipple on the driver side one is broken off (that is where the leak was coming from). My tranny has been running close to 200 on a day of in town driving. I'm not sure about the two lines, I only made it as far as you saw in the pictures. I'll have to wait till Thurs. to finish this up. Being a crime fighter is a full time job, very little time for play time.
you will want the 6.0 cooler then...or..see if the stock one is bellow them..if it is..use the stock and the better one of the other 2,,that will be enouph...
Surely the stock cooler has been bypassed if there are 2 extra coolers installed. If your temps are already running at 200* in city driving, maybe you should check your flow rates BEFORE replacing your coolers. When was the last time the fluid was changed in your transmission?
