need Tailshafft housing help please!

Hi guys! Hoping I can get some help here.

I've got an 88 F250 with the ZF S5-42 Tranny. While I was swapping in a new engine, I noticed that the previous owner had broken one of he mounting holes on the rear of the transmission.

By broken, I mean that the whole eye that the bolt from the transmission support goes into is GONE.

I also noticed that on this transmission the mounting points are on the tailshaft housing.

I should just be able to swap out the tailshaft housing, logically. But I am REALLY coming up dry when I'm trying to find one.

Any suggestions on places to look (other than local junkyards, which have NONE)?

Also- it seems to be doing fine with just one bolt. I'm tempted to keep it that way, but don't want any issues down the road. Any thoughts on that?

You aren't likely to find one in a junkyard nor will they let you take it apart. Check the local trans shops. You will be able to order parts from a ZF dealer at worst case. It will be part number 7A039 assuming you have a 4x4. There is a ZF parts dealer in New York, let me look in my book and I'll let you know how to contact them
