I have a 1992 F-150 300 and i was thinking about dropping in a 460 until a friend told me that the mazada tranny wont be able to handle the 460s power is this true?
True, it wont bolt up. You will need a big block bolt pattern trans. About the durability, that is a matter of opinion. Some people say it can handle a lot. I heard of a guy with a HOT 408 stroker that powershifts on a regular basis that runs the M5OD. Dont know how long it has been in there but I guess it worked for the time being. I also personally know sever guys running 38-39" tires and 350HP 302's that have no problem. but of course (modified to modified) they wont have half the torque of a 460 and that is what will kill a transmition.
