Red face learning as i go?

Sorry for posting redundant questions. I bought a 7.3 idi engine used and want to freshen it up before putting it in my truck.
I bought the injector hose kit with o rings already. And wonder should i do new injectors?? was told it ran fine? Would like to do new valvecover gaskets and oilpan at the same time, But when i look for parts online they list 7.3 motors with a letter after them (such as m or s ) How do i find my particular motors? Also learned here about anti cavitation anti freeze? Is there a particular brand i should purchase? same goes for glo plugs? I appreciate any info as this is my first diesel repair project.

Engine info

The progression of engines is as follows

6.9L IDI (IDI = Indirect injection) - The first diesel in Ford pickups, introduced in 1983 model year. Mechanically controlled.
7.3 IDI - Basically the same engine as the 6.9L, but with a higher displacement. Introduced in 1988 model year.
7.3L Powerstroke - First computer controlled diesel in Ford pickups. Introduced in 1994.5 model year.
7.3L Powerstroke (Superduty) No major differences in engine, just the major body style change in 1999.
6.0L Powerstroke - The newest diesel offered by Ford. Introduced in 2003.

I indicates 6.9 liter IDI non-turbo.
M indicates 7.3 liter IDI non-turbo.
C indicates 7.3 liter IDI turbo. ('93 model year)
K indicates 7.3 liter IDI turbo. ('94 model year)
F indicates 7.3 liter DI turbo. (7.3 liter Power Stroke)

Are you putting it in the 86.......

Thanks, So the engine is an (M) .Yes i am putting it in place of my 6.9 in my 86 f350 4x4. The 6.9 runs good but i just dont trust it?. Should i replace the injectors and glo plugs while the motor is out?

Mine seems to have a knock in the lower end ,and the rest of the truck wasn't maintained very well. Which is why i did so much body work already. I am now at the point where its just engine and tranny left for the most part.

If it were me, I'd repair the 6.9, if you have a bearing knock, its not a big deal to get new bearings in there, pulling the engine is the worst of it. I'm rebuilding my 6.9 right now.
