front cap swap

has anybody here changed the front cap on a 85 to a newer cap say like a 98. and yes before any body says why dont you go with an even newer one, is because the cap on the 85 is toast and the owner of the truck is giving me a real good deal for it and it has no damage on it just a little faded paint. the only question is that it is a gas burner and mines diesel, is the radiator support the same or if not what is the difference? thanks for any responces.

Thats the only thing I would worry about is maybe the radiator mount is different, but you should be able to make that work, it shouldn't take much fabrication, and I'm not sure that its different, i just don't know, but if it is it shouldn't be that big of a deal.
