Tooling trades?

I'm thinking we need a forum for swapping tooling amongst ourselves. Venue could be either arrange a tool for tool swap, loan, or combination. I throw this out because right now I am looking for (watching ebay among other things) a couple 60 degree dovetail cutter end mills for an upcoming project. It dawned on me that I have surplus drill bits, a plethora of end mills, 3 &4 flute, regular, ball, etc, and am probably not the only one in this situation.

Not really advocating a for sale forum, just a way to list needs and surpluses & connect with other FTE'rs to solve a mutual tooling problem. Not necessarily restricted to machinists' tooling, but not getting into stuff such as power tools, either.

Not sure how it would fit under FTE rules, but with the wanted/for sale threads in individual chapters, thought I'd throw it out for comment....

What ya all think?????

I don't necessarily have a tooling problem, but a machining problem.
Gotta get the mill up and running before I find out what tooling I need.(need to get a vfd and fix a few things that broke when I dropped it on its side
What size cutter are you looking for(shank diameter)?
What are you making?
I inherited pretty much everything from my dads machine shop so I have a lot of horozontal and vertical mill cutters amongst other things.

If you inherited a machine shop, your tooling is probably way beyond what I need. I constantly run into capability problems - mill too small, lathe too small, etc. But, if I had a 10" swing 6 foot lathe, I would probably find it too small for some job! What am I making? Right now, a light bar for the truck, an offset faceplate for the lathe, an x-y mount for the jewelers lathe, countershaft assembly for the jewelers lathe, miniature power hacksaw, adapting old milling base for use with a precision drill press. As to tooling. anything from 1/8 to 1/2 inch shanks. The dovetail end mill I spoke of:

1/2 or smaller shank, 60 deg. Would love to find two or three sizes. Can't figure out how I wound up with umpteen varieties of endmills of all sizes and no dovetails!

Yeah, several places carry them. You're missing the point - a tool trade forum, mix and match one FTEr's needs with spare tooling that another might have ........and trade for something they need.

So true.
I am trying to not buy anything until sell or trade some of the stuff I don't need.
I briefly checked my garage and and didn't find any dovetail cutters here.
They are at my moms house in southern California.
My dad had a heart attack in 2004 so he wasn't able to run his shop anymore. He was paying rent on the place for several months, without working or even going there, so I took a week off work and moved all his machinery and tooling to his house(he was still stubborn and unwilling, I had to pretty much yell at him to tell him hew was throwing away rent money each month with no income).
He passed away last April, so now all that stuff is mine.
I know he has some dovetail cutters, but they are for a horozontal mill and have a 1inch hole for a keyed shaft.
