I have a lot of brake/ metal pad dust/ rust accumulated on the side of my X- paint and plastic molding- Whats the best way to wash it off?- its stuck on pretty good and I do not want to scrub too much and hurt the paint job.
I do have mcguire's clay bar and did a test patch- but its a dark overcast day and i can't really see how well it worked.- i mean its smooth again- but I am still worried about the finish and havent even thought about the plastic yet.
Check the bottle to be sure it is safe on clear coat but I know that Wesley's Bleach White dissolves brake dust on my tires as does Castol's Purple stuff cleaner (can't remember the name) Basically I believe it is the bit of lye in both that do it.
That clay bar usually is the best but can be time consuming.
Clay bar should be your final step. Id look at MAYYYBBBEEEEE some wheel cleaner diluted, see if there are warnings about getting it on otehr stuff then tires. maybe theres a product without all the warning about dont get it on this or that. Id use this as a last resort though.
A god car wash should do the trick though, maybe a couple wash/rinse cycles?
thanks- i will check those products out- we are supposed to get into the high 50's by monday- so after a good cleaning i will get that wax job in that i should have done in the fall.
anyway- the powerslots are peforming very well- i am following the bed in procedure and already like the results
