Concept Study: Hunting Camp Trailer

What would you include in it, what would you leave out?

Option possibility might include a plug for standard RV 30 amp, and a special plug for connecting to a portable generator.

Wood heating.

CAMO scheme exterior.

Gun Rack in the cabinet scheme.

Space provided for a gun safe.

Bumper mounted horizontal freezer.

Your ideas? Don't hold back - GO FOR IT HERE!!!

What about an external ammo locker at the back of it?

Let's kick some ideas around....

I can picture a square bar hoist point that comes off the center of the roof in the back to lift deer up to bleed them out. The bar slides back and provides a lift point for a rope and tackle...

(good place for the external shower)

Wink hunter's trailer

Wolf, now you've done it. I am going to daydream about this all day....what is the maximum height a trailer can be and go down any interstate in the US of A and Canada ? 8ft 6 inches wide right ? How wide can a 'wide load' trailer be before you have to have an escort vehicle ? Daydreaming in progress........DinosaurFan, on his son's computer

Full-size refrigerator would be a must for maintaining temperature of all beverages, especially those that are of the frost-brewed nature.

Man you guy's are going overboard on this. I have been using a Coleman pop-up as a 'hunting camp trailor' for almost 15 years. Until this year we had NO electric power. Now we have a Honda 2000 generator and are really up town!!
We've made the following mods:

Coleman lantern heating or the propane stove.( We use the stock pop-up lights now)

After a few years the exterior is a 'natural camo' finish, it blends right in naturally.

No gun rack or safe is needed, the weapons are kept handy...

No refrigerator just a regular ice chect type cooler with lots of ice and brew.

A large pine tree serves as a 'meat pole' for deer.
If you field dress your deer quickly after it's shot there will be VERY little blood by the time you get the deer back to camp and on the 'meat pole'.

We do have a big charcoal grill for grilling as well as a fire pit for social time.

Our camp is nice and simple but we kill lots of deer. We took 11 deer last season, 5 bucks(3-8 points, 1-6 point, 1-11point) and 6 unantlered deer.

Gotta have a horizontal meat freezer I think - lift the lid type and twelve volt.

13-6 was what I was thinking, WOOD STOVE, if it's hunting season the beer can be outside in the cold out there... make maybe a mailbox slot in a wall, with a can-rack outside the wall in some kind of "ANTI NEIGHBOR and GOODBUDDY" enclosure.

What about communications? Some kind of radio for the occasional "Hey man - I need help dragging this one back" message.

Tool box? Fuel storage? Hmm....

Back in the '70's & '80's, I had done ok. I had an acerage, a couple of ponies, a MH, and a boat. I also had my truck, and an old beat to heck truck camper. It was an 8'. It had a furnace, refer, stove. I looked good inside, but the outside looked like it had rolled off a mountian. I kept it back under some brush in the back 20, most of the time. But come huntin' season, I loaded that POS on my truck, and away we went. My wife would never admit to her friends, that, it was my truck under that pile of junk. But it served a purpose. I could hook up my horse trailer, pile food, hay, stuff, and a couple of friends and go hunting. Now, when we got some game down, where did we put it? Yep, I had visqueen, and I layed it on the floor and up the walls a bit and piled the lucky deer or elk, or both, in the camper.

Man those were the days!

Like Jake00 said, I think a Toy Hauler would fit my needs perfectly because I would eventually like to get Honda's version of the Rhino when it comes out. But a Toy Hauler specifically made for hunting would be really nice! So along with the features of a Toy Hauler, I would like this stuff:

flipped axles for ground clearance

off road type tires and nice aluminum wheels just because it looks cool with 2 spare tires.

mounts in the interior for a shovel and ax

wildlife graphics, like a mule deer/whiteail buck or bull elk.

a nice gun cabinet would be nice with a drawer or some other type of storage for gun oils, ramrods etc.. so you can oil your gun down in case of rain or snow.

exterior areas on the trailer to either mount or lean guns or bows

maybe some type of foldable "drop down" type of table on the exterior so you have a place to keep backpacks, fanny packs, binoculars and other stuff that always ends up just laying around.

storage for a full size charcoal bbq like a weber.

i would like the floor to be a tough, durable bed liner like floor, no carpet or vinyl.

Camo interior

a built in illuminated weather station, that tells the time, temperature and weather forecast with an alarm clock. One that is always illuminated and easy to see from anywhere in the trailer.

lighted entry steps

exterior flood lights

like greywolf suggested, some type of communication center. Maybe something that holds/charges 4 2-way radios.

a couple of wall mounted, re-chargeable flashlights or lanterns.

nice stereo/cd player with quality speakers inside and out.

propane boot/clothing dryer

exterior shower/faucet

I want to see folk pull a 13' trailer through the woods 8'6" is the more normal standard width. You can't have a trailer wider than that on most roads, even if interstates have looser limits (13'6") 102" is a much tighter and more applicable standard.

Hey now -

Would something like a "MINITURE TOY HAULER" that could just hold a fourwheeler or two and give a place to live be on target here?

Low roof - and places for guns and ammo

My BOSS hunts his backside off - and I watched him wash his fourwheeler tonight. It had mud in places that made my crotch itch, and my mechanic's mind wonder. But it had a rifle case on the right, and a dog kennel mounted on the back!

(I'm not kidding - he has something like twelve tri-color hounds)

40 gallons propane
bank of 4 gc batteries and small quiet Honda gen to recharge bats only.
room for 1 quad or two bikes
18 cuft deep freez running on propane
3 extend a stay tee's, 1 for smoker, 1 for bbq, one for fake gas fire.... no wood needed.
double bunk house style with curtian partitions.
dual use sat dish with internet (to stay on FTE)
full length awning

Capacity is the key.

plenty of water and propane

Onan generator

Awning with enclosure

Skirting (tarp material)

Lots of storage!!

Make it so the awning is basically an additional room, maybe a wood stove like a wall tent.
