I don't speak enough Diesel to know if I'm looking at a commen problem or not.
1986 6.9 non turbo, replaced previousley aged, non op GPs with CarQuest supplied FRA 1107's, engine started normally three or four times from dead cold, hard / no start returned. Ran basic GP test (test light to power, no ilumination with contact to GP terminal), power relay not bridged and signal to relay shuts off withen 15 seconds. I used a remote starter switch to cycle the power relay at least 10 times but did not leave it engaged for more that a second or two each time.
Any suggestions?
Not to thread *******ize but I just acquired an '87 F 250 with the 6.9. I got a hold of some ZD9's at the local autozone for $6.39 each.
The autozone on the other side of town has 16 in stock. I'd call around at the autozones in your area and see what you can find. The dealer quoted me $34.32 each for the ZD9's.
Thanks for the welcome. I have been lurking for awhile trying to pick up all the info I can. I have the daunting task of changing out the glow plugs this weekend. Luckily, I just plan on using the truck on occasion. I am definitely going to take my time.
I am going to start soaking the plugs with PB Blaster tommorrow. Wish me luck.

You might also have a problem with the controller as well. When mine went south, it would stay on for longer and longer, untill it would not turn off at all, even after replacing the controller I still have a slight problem with incorrect timing. I've heard that a bad ground (located behind the controller in on the back of the head) can cause this but wasn't ever able to confirm this.
When you get replacement plugs in there, make sure you keep an eye on the glow time of the plugs to see if they start to glow for longer than normal.
