uneven break wear

my brakes started grinding a little and i knew it was about time to replace them, so i pulled the tire off and noticed the outside pad was almost gone. i got the parts i needed and started the job today. when i pulled the caliper off the pads were worn unevenly, with the outside pad worn almost all the way, with a slight angle. the inside pad wasnt worn much at all. typically this means the caliper piston in hanging up. however the piston looked fine, and the pressure was fine. could the alignment be doing this to the pads? i've needed an alignment job for sometime, but havnt done it yet. any input would be great. i dont have any problem putting new calipers on, i just dont want to replace them and not fix the prob. thanks.

I can't see the alignment having anything to do with the problem, seeing as how the rotor is in constant alignment with the wheel. Not the suspension. My .02 cents.

Check your caliper slide pins.

That's real common on this setup. Since they don't cost more than $10 for a set I replace them every time I do a brake job.
