and I have two questions for now. First and foremost, my reverse lights used to work and no longer do. I replaced both bulbs and checked the fuses and everything looks good. A relay on the tranny maybe?? Second and just annoying, my gas gauge for the front tank doesnt work. The tank and sending unit runs fine as I run the truck from the front tank all the time but I have no idea how much gas is in it. Any helpful hints tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated.
The reverse switch might be shot or have a loose/bad connection. It should be on the transmission case.
If you have a good reading from the rear tank, chances are the float unit in the front tank is toast or has a bad connection. The fuel gauges like to go out on these trucks.
I averaged 225 miles on front tank on short bed. So I would just write down mileage and run till got close and switch. But start checking all connection ETC. Also the dash switch can go bad . Try to clean it and check for contacts with a tester. Switch and see if contact for other tank read the same .
