I've had some minor brake issues and I replaced the master cylinder. I tried to bleed the system myself, but come to find out it needs to be power bleed b/c of the ABS module.
So instead of taking it to the dealer to have it done, are these "power bleeding systems" available off the shelf for consumers and are they expensive?
Yep, you can do it the old fashioned way without problems. It takes a little longer with ABS, but it still works.
You can buy an over the counter pressure bleeder for under $100. Don't exceed 15 psi or you run the risk of ABS problems. There is also the possiblity that it could blow the reservoir out of the master cylinder or the reservoir could explode and either of those will ruin your day.
Are you getting fluid flow out of the bleeders for the full stroke of the pedal? If not you may need to check the booster push rod length between the booster and the master cyl. otherwise there is air somewhere or a seized caliper slide is pulling a caliper back causing excessive clearance between the pad and rotor.
