First, my dads 99 f150 v6 air and heater went out. is there any ideas as to what he needs to look for ? hes in fla. where there is not too many places to go to get it checked out....second thing is my 01 f150 v6 i dont know if a lot of you know this but ford had an extended recall on the emission part years 01 to 03 i believe it is for 2 added more years i am constantly getting the same code on my truck and the dealers we have here in louisville ky. are the worst .but my question is what can i do if anything to prevent this from happening and if i ignore this will it hurt the truck to keep running like this .its not running rough or anything ..also is everyone getting the same gas mileage out of their truck as i am? about 13 maybe ,,,,

when you say the heater went out, are you saying the blower will not blow air, or you cant control the duct doors to direct the air to the panel or floor?? on your truck, the engine lite will tell you "something" is not correct. it could be minor and no big deal. go to A"UTO ZONE and they will plug a small reader into a plug under the dash and tell you what the code says. THey will give you a generic idea of what is wrong. Post the code here and someone will tell you the likely cause of your light.--- milage varies depending on where you are (how cold is it), and if you drive like your 16 years old or 60 years old.. the minimum is probably about 12 MPG, most guys get about 14-15 in various conditions. If you drive stead on the highway at 60 MPG you might get in the 18-19 range if the temp is over 60 degrees outside and your not running "winter gas". Milage in the midwest normally drops 1-2 MPG in the winter due to the winter blend gas and the ambient temps.
