Hmmmmm....

Got in a "discussion" over on Club Hot Rod----guy there claims to have a really killer 410--- I think he's blowin' smoke. Have I been doing something wrong on my engines, or is this dude full of it???? I mean, this is more hp then Barry had on his Engine Master's stroker!!!!!!!!!!

I quote:

Don't let Dave rattle you. He just wants the FE info....

Dave, figure it with .060 over, 11 1/2 to 1 pistons, 850 Holley carb. And remember, This had 575 hp on a brake dyno with a 780, and timing retarded 10º when I checked it out for power. Do I have the slip ? No I do not. This was long ago and no slip. But, I do have the motor sitting here.

I may be off a little on the speedo. Is was set for what I was running as far as miles per hour. But, you tell me. The speedo is a 120 mph speedo, and the hand was against the little peg by the zero.

By the way. This would be about 980 hp at the fylwheel.

It's ok if you think I'm blowing smoke.

Unquote

\

Could this be correct or just more BS?

Thanks,

Considering that the whole shabang is based on .060/11.5-1 pistons and a 850 holley, yeah I'll vote smoke.. and the speed part "**** who cares" I been in a 67 Camaro with a straight six that would do upwards of 135mph due to gears and enough road...whooptie dooo

Dave ask him if the block was crossbolted and if he's running a steel crank. If it's not he FOS. Where's that thread there?? And is the main site back up or the temp site still there??

Some of them are so far over the top, you have to step in. An engine like that would get 22 mpg with a 4.10 rear end and 36" super globber tires, and top out at 160 mph to boot. RIGHT?

"By the way. This would be about 980 hp at the flywheel. "

The guy is full of ****!!!! Talk with the guys off fordfe.com and they are pushing 850HP or so aspirated! And they are not using a 850 to do it with, more like 1050's. Who is this guy?????

Oh it's Denny!!! I searched your posts there. Well....I always wondered what kind of power his 410 has. Now we know. If and when the database ever comes up look for his 1st post. It was in a thread I started about everyones FE projects at the time. He listed in pretty good detail his 410 build. That would be pretty good proof right there. It's quite a while ago and I can't remember much about it. Unless he recently rebuilt it....which he might have... I'm finding 980 at the fly a bit much to beleive. In that case I'd like to know the specs as well.

He would make 2.4HP for ever CI. I really don't buy that one bit!!! I'll see if I can find his specs.

Wes with the main datebase still down you can only find posts back to June 07. Once it's back up providing everything is still there you'll find it. The original specs anyway. With all the server issues CHR and CC have been having it hope it's still there.

Well, I'm certainly no engine pro, but enough to know that if it smells like bs, looks like bs, I probably don't need to test it any further. Anyway, it's on the thread about the 302 converting to Boss heads.....and he's still sticking to his story on the hp!!!!!

Now that you mention it G, I do remember the earlier thread....be glad when we're back on the regular site, hopefully it hasn't dumped the old threads with all the changeover.....

Thanks for taking the time to look into it guys.....Thing that really bothers me about this kind of bs is that some young dude would accept it as gospel, then try to figure out why his 410 built the same only made half that power!!!!!
