Speaker wiring question.
'98 XLT 4 door. Is there any location, other than immediately behind the radio, where the wiring to all four speakers is conveniently together? I'm hooking up my amps and sub today and need the wiring for speaker level inputs, as well as the amplifier outputs.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank ye.
Mine (as does many) has the factory amp located behind the passenger side rear quater panel interior trim piece, just above the front of the right rear wheel arch. I bought a connector that plugs into one of the two harnesses that connect to the factory amp. This connector I bought has about 10 feet of wire on it, although I needed only a couple feet. I simply plugged the harness I bought into one of the harnesses for the factory amp. For your aftermarket amplifier you would need to tap into the other harness that connects to the factory amp to hook up to the signal going to your amp.
Are you using the stock reciever or aftermarket?
Here are a few color codes that may be helpful http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/...etail/861.html
.
I had no idea about their being an amplifier, but as good as the stock radio sounds, I could see that being possible.
I'm using the stock head unit, I want to keep it looking stock. Polk component fronts, Pioneer rears, two Alpine amps now, and an MTX 10". I've got most of it in place where I want it (sort of) just don't have it hooked up.
But I should be able to make forward progress once I get behind that trim peice. Thank you very, very much. I just hope that amp's back there.
