Hey Guys I am in the process of adding a 6637 instead of cold air style K&N.
I have a cut piece of 4" exhaust tubing, which fits nicely inside the 6637 filter, the Ford intake that goes from the CCV to the air filter box is 4 1/4"... Can I just clamp it or should I try to get my tube pressed out to 4 1/4 on one side?
I see this all the time. Mine is a 99.5 and my 6637 more or less slid right on and the factory clamp was perfect. I did have the aid of a FTE member here, but once I watched it being done I probably could have saved the 40 mile drive.
The only thing I had to go back and do on mine was to lightly rough up the neck of the filter and the inside of the tube (it had started to slid out after the first tightening). After that it hasn't moved in nearly 6 months.
