Great forum this is my first post but I really enjoy reading all the great info here.
Last night while driving back home from Saskatchewan to Manitoba the tow/ haul light started flashing. It was strange as when it occurred we were at the bottom of a long down hill stretch and the truck was basically coasting. It seemed that the transmission was stuck in say 2nd or 3rd and wouldn’t shift down or up. After we reached the top of the hill we shut it down restarted it and drove nonstop for another 300km or so with no more problems and went down much steeper hills without the incident reoccurring. Tranny temp and all the gauges reported normal...
At the time it was loaded up pretty good as I race sled dogs and had 19 of them in the truck along with all the gear. Is a 2004 diesel F350 crew cab, auto (fluid and both filters changed about 3000km ago) latest flash, completely stock except for cat delete pipe. It’s booked into the shop next week but I’d still like to get your opinions. Thanks
When the tow/haul flashes a code is ALWAYS stored in memory. Many places don't have the right tool to be able to read the code, but it's there. Without the code there is no way to know what's wrong.
When I got my truck it would go into Tow/Haul or flash also...boken wire in the shift lever for the Tow/Haul button. When the light flashes usually a slip has occurred so you may have a shift solenoid acting up.
I also had the tow/haul light flash. Shifts were hard. Turned out to be the temp senor in the transmission was reading a constant -45 degrees. (2007 F350 6.0)
