I'm replacing the rag joint on my 72 F100 4x2 (power steering). It was time...it ripped in two as I pulled my steering gear away.
The steering gear half doesn't have any bolts/nuts visible on the clamp.
. It has what may be dome-like covers over the bolts, but it really appears to be a seamless pressed on unit. Am I not seeing something? Do I have to get a whole new unit (versus replacing the rag)? If I'm stuck, where can I get one? Dennis Carpenter doesn't cover that year. Thanks for any suggestions...I'm stuck on blocks in the meantime.
Matt, You should be able to get one from your favorite parts house, or local Ford dealer if you want to pay extra.
Da Dummy will be by in a minute with the exact part number so you can dazzle the counter person with brilliance.

Autoparts stores usually only sell the rubber portion, then you have ta fit it to the old parts. Before buying one a these, make sure the splines aren't worn down to a nub or stripped.

Thanks! Found the part and ordered it. It turns out I could have used the "HELP" kit, but I would have to grind and such to get the hidden rivets out. Buying a new unit is a bit more money, but I'm getting lazier and lazier.
