the guy that owned my truck before me installed a fuel pressure gauge, im pretty sure all it is, is a hose running from the fuel filter assembly to the gauge in the cab
the neddle would always sway pretty fast from 2 to 6 psi at idle and stable out some at acceleration usually somwhere between 3 to 5 psi, still moving up and down pretty fast
well right after i changed my fuel filter the neddle became much more stable at idle, barely moving at all, and completly still at accleration at around 4psi
the more i drive my truck after the new filter, the more it goes back to the way it used to be, i probably changed the filter less than a 100 miles ago the its not happening over months or anything
That is a good fuel pressure....... 4 to 6 is standard. I would not have a fuel hose routed into the cab, just like an oil line for a guage..... too many possibilities for catastrophic leakage. The manual lift pump is working fine, the distance/hose to the guage may be inducing the fluctuations...... test right at the filter head.
