My dads power steering pump just put a hole in a line down at the cooler. It is -8 f below outside.
Could the pump be putting too much pressure into the hoses?
The pump will scream 2 to 3 minutess when it is colder than 0 F outside.
It does have syn in it. It did the same thing last year but the hose did not have a hole in it. THxs It is a 2006 F250 with 5.4.

Reason: forgot to put the year of truck
The cooler comes after the gearbox so it is the "low" pressure side of the circuit. My guess would be moisture in the line or some sort of physical damage. Most likely you can get the dealer to handle it as long as you are in the warranty period.
Truck was bought new in 06 and the dealer is 400 air miles away. The dealer has been a pain the rear. We have a abs light light on since it was bought and they have been no help. There is no moisture in the steering fluid that we could see when it drained by the hole in the hose. Thxs.
