P/S pump pulley
I've been reading about the critical position of power steering pump pulley on power steering pump rotor shaft, the ford manual said " Make sure pull-off groove on power steering pump pulley is facing front and flush with end of shaft ± 0.254mm (± 0.010 inch)"
But i'm confused about the points to mesaure that distance. Between the tip of the shaft and the pulley or the base of the shaft and the inner side of the pulley.
Any coment or sugestion will be appreciate.

The P/S pump in a 4.0 L OHV engine, can be removed only with the 3 bolts holding to bracket? or i need remove the A/C compresor and the other things under the compressor to remove the pump?
Thanks

Not to be critical, but have seen many that were flush on the shaft and did not line up with the crank. If the pulleys do not line up, the belt will squeal, jump off the pulleys and/or shred.
In theory, if the PS pump is properly, securely mounted to it's bracket, and the pulley is installed flush, it will line up perfectly.
Of course this is not true, so if you get it on and it doesn't line up properly, don't be afraid to move it slightly.
