2002 ford explore

whenever i take off it starts popping and jerking from the back. but once you get some speed up it quits. have had serveral mechanics look at it and they told me it was the tires so i replaced them and nothing has changed.

You need new mechanics,

and we need better info......

In the meantime, Have you checked for sticky rear calipers?

i feels like the fourwheel drive is trying to kick in. you can tell it more when you make a turn.

you can not feel anything in the steering and it does it while it changing gears

what would be the best way to clean the calipers

Clean calipers, remove them, clean/lubricate and reinstall,

Check driveshaft U-joints while you are at it, remove driveshaft, feel for rough, loose or binding joints, replace as required, reinstall

I may be totally off base here so my apologies in advance. If the explorer has a two piece drive shaft it sounds like it may be doing the same thing my 97 ranger extended cab would do. the slip joint between the two shafts would bind. cut the band and slide the boot back and work some wheel bearing grease in then put the boot back and secure with a sinch tie.
