Sterling's got a new truck!

Now 1st of all, don't shoot the messenger!
I know that Ford Trucks sold to Freightliner and renamed it Sterling.
But for 2008, they're coming out with a truck that is the same as a F-450 & F-550. They're naming it BULLETT. Now 1st of all, it is a Dodge truck with a different grille(Thus, Don't Shoot the Messenger!) They will be sold at Freightliner dealers only.Heres a photo of a demo unit.

I am really surprised Ford lets Sterling use the oval, it makes it look like a Ford even with the S.

Yeah I read about that awhile back.

I'm pretty sure that truck is only being sold as a cab & chassis.

From what I have gathered its a re badged Dodge as autoglass has stated.

I think it will have the same 6.7 Cummins as the Dodge too.

Yup, a rebadged dodge 4500 and 5500. 6.7 cummins and the aisin 6 speed manual. idk whats available for automatics tho. cab and chassis and then it goes to a body builder, same way with dodge models, no pick ups offered yet, but if they sell good enough, they may not let ford take all the credit.

Lemme try and figure this out,They're taking Fords logo,a dodge truck and rebadging it as their own? Why not just buy the dodge straight out and cut "sterling" out of it?

For the same reason there is a Ford & Mercury! The same body with a different nameplate. The more unit to sell.

I am guessing the idea behind the Sterling truck is expanding their line. I suspect they are going to cater to customers who already have Sterling in their fleet. Trying to streamline their fleet, or brand name.

Daimler owned Chrysler for a bit, Daimler also owns Freightliner who owns Sterling. The Sterling oval emblem was just a cheap fix to put a Sterling badge where a blue oval used to be without changing any of the tooling of the grilles or hoods.
