I went to the Chevy site looking to do some research on my truck's competition and the site said something to the effect that all diesel engines from 2008 model trucks have to have emissions cleaner than the air in Los Angeles, which got me to thinking about the white smoke I see people complaining about here and was wondering if that was to make the people from Los Angeles feel better or worse about their situation. fficeffice" /><O></O>
Ok, I suppose it's because I come from an area where the air is clean and the idea that the emissions from a motor would be cleaner than the air from my home is hard to imagine. You know what I am not going to explain it. Sorry.

It's a well known fact that indoor air is usually more poluted than outside air, especially this time of year.
By 2013, the air coming out of a heavy duty diesel will be cleaner than the air going in, and that includes the air in your home.
The white smoke you mention is only hydrocarbons, something California doesn't recognize as a polutant.

d00d if you had any idea what kind of stuff goes into building a house, carpet/flooring/glues/formaldehyde in the floor and roof sheeting and alike you would move into a tent in the woods. Please you really dont need to explain. it was my own little joke back at you. Hope I did not hurt your feelings, that was not my intention.
If you go to www.forddoctorsdts.com/ click on article's,go down to diesel emission's reduction's click on that and you will see a graph that show's just how crazy this all is starting in 1990 to date, what a joke, and what a way to screw up diesel's,thank's EPA,it's called job security in washington DC.
What I dont understand is that the government is tring to make the exhaust cleaner, yet in the process, the vehicles are getting worse fuel mileage. So the exhaust is cleaner, but you end up burning alot more fuel. (Back to square one)

What confuses you, air is Job 1.........fuel consumption is unimportant !
makes perfect cense to me .................................not !
After the first response I was beginning to think I was the only one who thought all of this was silly.
Na..........I was born and raised in so cal the LA area and the air was bad then (in the 70's) I can only emagine how nasty it is now. I havent been there in 20 years and I doubt I will ever go back. The air is bad enough for me here in (WA). But household air is some of the worst at least that is what the studies say. I dont think I will run the exhaust into the house from the truck just to freshen it though.
