I have posted a couple of times on this problem and am still having cold start problems. I have done the following and still have starting problems.
1. New Glowplugs
2. New GPR
3. New Batts.
4. New Starter (since my employees think cranking forever will make it start)
5. New Oil Temp. sensor
6. Switched to lighter weight oil per PSD manual for winter conditions
7. New valve cover gaskets and under valve cover wire harnesses
8. Removed the Banks Chip No Difference
9. Checked Fuel heater, OK
10. HPOP Pressure While cranking Cold: 2000+ PSI(only had a 2000PSI guage), Hot: 1500PSI Cranking, 625PSI idle
11. Fuel pressure at schrader on regulator over 60PSI hot and cold
12. New cam position sensor
13. Once started it runs great, 18-20 MPG, Lots of power, up to 26PSI boost
Any help would be appreciated. I was thinking possibly lazy injectors or loss of compression. Although, it runs too strong for me to believe I have a compression loss.
Thanks for any help,
Justin
I forgot to mention this was a California Truck and runs AB code injectors, I don't know if this plays any role in the pressures I have been observing.
yes, there is an adapter to fit in there for diesel compression gauges, but i would run an injector buzz test on the cold motor first.i have had this concern happen before. the truck would not start cold, even on warmer days. everything checked good as yours did. it would run on ether but as soon as you stopped spraying it would die. after long enough it would run but like crap then as the motor warmed up it ran great and back to normal until the truck sat for a few hours then back to a no-start. run the injector buzz on a dead cold motor and you may find that your injectors are buzzing very quiet and are in dire need of replacement.
how many iles are on your truck? are you the origonal owner? better question is are you on the origonal turbo and if so then check your intake fins for damage. if they are clean then you can be 99.9 % sure you dont have a compression issue.
after reading your post my money rides on injector problems not an engine issue
In reply to Joes ?'s. The truck has 210,000miles on it. I did check the compressor side of the turbo and they loooked clean and undamaged. I am no turbo expert by any means though. The turbo is original. Do I have to take the truck into a shop to do an injector buzz test? I also should have noted that when I change the oil weight to a lighter oil according to IH recomendations the idle smoothed out and the power comes on smoother as well. I am not the original owner of the truck, but my best friend has had it since new. I have had the truck for three years and like my buddy am ocd about services and having things work properly.

Reason: missing info
if the turbo looks good then the motor probably hasnt lost compression, its not a gurantee but its a good start. to do an injector buzz test you need a ford scan tool or an equivalent. your run of the mill code puller wont do.
