Vacuum problem?

well... when it's idleing and you cup the carb with your hand.. the idle went up right??? that would indicate a lean condition..meaning it's getting to much air or not enough fuel. too much air could be from a vacuum leak, not enough fuel could be from a clogged jet or low fuel level in the bowls....got to find out which one it is. That egr gasket you made is a good place to start....

Found the problem. It was a leak on the carb gasket. I had a factory carb gasket that was about 1/16" narrower than the carb and I didn't notice it at first. That was causing it to leak. I made one that's the right size and everything seems to be all right now.
