diesel power

What the best to get a programer or a module? What brand works the best? I thinking about the bank 6 guns with the speed loader. What exhaust and intake works the best? I just got a 2003 ford excursion 4x4 6.0 diesel. This suv is huge and it rides nice.

SCT xcal 2 or 3 with custom tunes are the most popular for the 6.0

I've driven a 6.0 X with a banks 6gun...put it on level six, honestly my 7.3 would toast that thing in performance (and a properly tuned 6.0 with the SCT would toast my truck).

Stock intake is pretty good. Otherwise, AFE, Airraid or S&B would be my choices for aftermarket.

Exhaust, they are are similar...and really won't get a pereformance difference from brand to brand. You will get better fitment and better quality out of different brands. Of all the exhausts I've seen..... B&B Performance and Borla are the nicest systems that I've put together, have all the hangers welded to the pipe and use nice bandclamps. But they are more $$ than other options.
Magnaflow is also very nice (they have different "levels" of systems) as is Silverline and MBRP.

Just my $.02

First educate yourself by asking the right questions to the right people. And spend a few hours reading the threads on here concerning programmers.

1st I have learned on this site that and exhaust is a good MOD for your truck. (I did it and love it)

2nd I have learned from this site that a SCT programmer with custom tunes from Matt is the best tuner. (actually it is the only tuner worth your time after reading the posts/threads concerning)

**But MOST IMPORTANTLY; I have learned that I dont want a tuner....from any company.

If you DO install one, just go ahead and upgrade your head studs first. Becuase from what I read here, the common theme with tuners is head bolt, head gaskets and the like. And there is the warrenty issue if Ford finds out you have a tuner.

without turning this into a pissing match, read the threads as stated but don't think just because you get a tuner you need head studs or gaskets. I've put 7k on my truck with a tuner and have never run anything less that the agg. street tune from Matt @ Spartan Diesel with no problems. Matt and others can write safe tunes for your stock motor. But stock motors vary and plenty of guys here have blown gaskets just driving normal or using the truck for towing like it was designed.

I would have to say if you do get a tuner at the minimum you would also need an EGT and boost gauge's. Exhaust will let the motor breathe better witht he extra ponnies.

I have a SCT X cal2 with Matt's tunes. I put a MBRP 4" TB exhaust and a pyro before I started running the tunes. I added the tuner in feb or march at around 2000 miles and I now have 21000 with no trouble. I run the heavy tow tune the most because that is what I do. But I have aggressive street and agressive race tunes to. I like to put the race tune in if I am going on the interstate and the roads are dry. It's a lot of fun to have a 10,500 lb truck that will get up and go when tuned!!

I just put an EGT in my truck, well almost, I installed the gauge and pod, but haven't installed the probe yet. Next up on performance will be an SCT programmer. I am a very cautious person when it comes to my truck. From the reading and research I have done, I too have found on this site plus others that the SCT is the way to go. I have heard tunes from Spartan or from Innovative Diesel are your best bet. Plus I love the fact that SCT is custom tunable to do exactly what you want and not just a pre-programmed unit that is tuned for peak power regardless of the consequences. So when I go for a programmer SCT will be my choice.
