I have a 2004 F250 extended can and am looking at putting some subs in it. I guess the only place I can put them is under the rear seat. Has anyone ever done this and where is the best place to get the box from? Also where did you end up mounting the amp at. Thanks for any help.
I was just about to ask a very similar question. I have a 99 ex cab and would like to get a little bass in the rig. I was thinking a set of 8s. Or one 12 under the middle seat/consoul up front. I still need to use my back seat for 2 kids in car seats and on the weekends I have to put flip my seats down for side jobs.
I'm in the same boat and not much room under the back seat. I was thinking a single 10" in the middle of the back floor or maybe some low profile (like the Kenwoods) under one of the front seats... Just not much room to tuck them in.
My thought was, Since no one ever sits in the middle up front and I have that 40/20/40 bench style. I could have the guts pulled out of the center and mount it there. Then have the skin reassembeled. As long as you did a little fabrication you could use it as a seat with little padding.
Also with kids, Messing with floor space plus being able to fold the seat forward to use the space for tools makes the back virtually untouchable for speakers.
I need to build or have one built. I have an '08 center console in an '04 and don't like the upward firing under rear seat boxes. Also don't know how well the Q-customs rear seat box with the cup-holders would work with the newer front console. I would like to see a pic of that setup if anyone's done it.
I once had a pair of 12's on top of the rear seat with it folded down and got tired of having no room. Could not find what I needed/wanted that was not too exspensive, so I made a box for a single 12 that sits on the floor between the seats in the center. I made it just big enough for the speaker and ended up with the top being large enough to mount the amp there. I cannot fold the seat down to make it flat, but at least two people can ride back there. That was about 3 years ago and still have not got around to putting the carpet on it. One more thing for the list...
