trip to georgia
hello all just got back from my trip to georgia, i noticed brown soot on my fender instead of the normal black, any thoughts on that??
what is the normal boost pressure for a stock f-350 7.3 liter. Mine normally runs 5-8 unloaded and around 10 loaded 15 at a max does that sound right?
I didn't notice any exhaust leaks on the up pipes.
Whent I got to Atlanta on the way back I was driving down the road loaded 65mph the engine would cut out and cut back in. I just changed the CPS sensor. It gave me a code but I haven't read it yet.
Coming back through the smokies w/ a 6000lb load it didn't feel like I had much power, but was drinking deisel fuel like water, I donated a 1/4 tank to the mounts.
will changing the air filter to a 6637 upgrade, cutting out the muffler get me better fuel mileage? and if so how much better will I get
Any help would be appreciated.

well don't have the cat but i do the muffler, it wasn't that windy. i got 13 mpg's the whole way down there (750 mi) and 11 mpg's the whole way back w\ a 6000 lbs trailer. this summer i got 14 mpg's pulling my 8500 lbs camper.
the max boost sounds low..should see close to 20..check all 4 boots going to the IC and the 2 down in the valley.. also check you EBPS tube to make sure it is clean..it will build up with soot and mess things up.. i noticed less smoke from mine after putting in a new EBPS..its has been deleted for a year now... i just put the new one in last weekend..
Kent, I'm heading down to Ft. Benning, GA for my friends Commisioning ceremony and alot of the route I'll be taking is the same as you took. Were there any road construction nightmares or anything else I need to look out for? Thanks.

i checked all my boots, but my ebps was pluged and i cleaned it a few weeks a go, but when i had my codes read today it said it had a weak sig. and not reading properly. bad senser?? what all does that senser do?? and also said my new cps was bad, it was raining when the truck acted up, will that do anything??
new CPS + trouble in the rain = no dielectic grease in the connector and moisture causing problems? Some of the wiser amongst us my have other opinions, but that's something I'd check. I know one of the things the Exhaust Back Presure sensor does is restrict the exhaust during cold weather warm up to help warm up the engine faster.
