Talking What do you think?

Hey guys, I was thinkin about an idea for this forum. I thought we could have a Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary, for the FTE members here. Plus, I thought for those of us who know our trucks original build date, we could even wish the trucks Happy Birthday. If we don't know the original birthday of our trucks, we could use the day we got them "done" I know that done is a relative term, but you get the picture. Also, since I never go to any of the other parts of this site, but right here. I think I saw a thing that said ride of the week? Maybe we could have one of them right here, and just have members of this site's trucks posted on it? What do you guys think about this idea? If it stinks just tell me, I can take it.

GOD bless, and Happy New Year!!

It's a cool idea but someone has to regulate it and that takes a commitment and is time consuming. There are other websites out there that have the truck of the week, etc. I've noticed the other sites tend to have the same truck for "truck of the week" for over six months and more because people got tired of keeping up with it. As far as Birthday's. That's an easy one. I was born on the same day as my truck. I was shocked when I found that out! (Now everyone knows how old I am too).

Think it would be good. get a little more history on the trucks and get an idea of where and when they all came from.

My truck was born on Jan 11 1956, my mother in law's B-day ,s Jan 10 1956. It's amazing how I can keep them both straight, but I do. As for the commitment thing, I know there are a few "committed regulars" here who are on here all the time. I thought maybe some of them could take turns at this idea? I thought we could have a place for our B-day's on our profiles? That would be easy enough don't you think?

Also I was thinking we could also have a place that we could put "FTE member of the month" or something like that for the FTE member who has answered the most posts and been the most helpful that particular month.

Amen brother! So, your turning 25?

Truxx- If you go to Public profile on the members, it has the birthdate of each member on it already. I think your intentions are great, not sure how to put it all together. Fomoko (moderator) could maybe help out there.

It is a ton of work for someone. One site I am on has a truck of the month. Even that is headaches and gets behind at times.

This site used to have a truck of the month. That was always way behind.

If you did one for this particular area...who would decide? Monthly nominations and votes by the members? Someone would get their buddies from all over the site (400,000) to rig the votes and or nominations. Decided by a committee? There again...a lot of work every month by a group.

What would be the qualifications for truck of the month? Stock, Modified, completed, interesting project, interesting mods? The list could go on.

As far as birthdays and anniversaries....how would you know who? Only members who actually own 48-60 trucks and panels? Only those who post regularly? Any member who posts in this forum? Any member who has ever posted in this forum?

If you include everyone..the numbers would be staggering.

As far as the finished truck, just how many of you are here? It seems like most of us are in various stages of taking them apart or working on them for years and years.

I think its a great idea...just way to many details to work out and time to invest (for someone). This is a huge site. If it were smaller...I think most of that would be possible.

Just my .03 (inflation)

When you get to be my age you don't really care to be reminded of it.

I would, however, like to see more pictures of the trucks of those on the forum! If there was some way of having a location in everyones gallery for a current status picture that FTE could grab randomly and post as a truck picture of the day, week or month. That would be pretty cool!

Unless someone has a better idea the only way I can only think of doing this is with another stickie here and we`re way over our allotment. I can check but I`m under the impression that forums aren`t allowed more than one or two since the earlier clean up on stickies...
If this is a indeed wanted feature suggestions and ideas are welcome.

Sounds like a sewing circle........pass the tea and crumpets...happy birthday, dear!!!! Oh well, if it can share some interesting truck info, I guess I'm OK with it...but it seems so "tea party" (thats being polite). Shoot, now I feel like pulling an engine or dropping a transmisisson!!

Happy Birthday, Wally. All the best.

Sounds like an interesting idea, but also lots of work. I like the featured truck idea. Maybe show the birthday boy/girls truck during their birth month, the trucks birth month, or member join month. Just a thought. Acutally, the members wanting to participate could do the posting.
