rebuilt 351w won't start

i rebuilt a 351w got it in but can't get it to start or fire. i have good spark and am getting fuel can't figure out any ideas

10 to 1 it's a timing problem, and something is way, way off. My best guess would be the distributor is out 180 degrees. Is it possible you are setting to TDC on the exhaust stroke? If you are at TDC on the compression stroke with the rotor pointing at #1 cylinder, your plug wires are routed to the correct firing order, and your cam is clocked with the crank correctly it HAS to run if it's getting fuel. Did you check spark at the spark plug. One time I spent 2 days trying to get a car to run, going over the wires and distributor again and again until I found out the Chiltons manual had the firing orders mixed up on 2 engines. I believe it was a small block Ford that I was working on, too. So here,s a couple of things that could be wrong: You don't have the cam degreed correctly to the crank, if you used a stock-type timing chain and halfway watched what you were doing. you probably are ok there. You have a 302 firing order camshaft that you are trying to run on a 351w firing order or a 351w cam and 302 firing order, but I'd bet on the distributor.
