I ordered a drop pitman for my 99SD250 4X4. It listed all SD up to 2004 and then 2005 to present. The arm I have fits fine but master splined 1/4 turn out. If you look into the gearbox end hole my stock master splines are in the shape of a X in line with the arm, the one I got in is in the shape of a + lined up with the arm... What should I specify when I call to get a replacement? How many possibilities are there? I would not have believed this part would be different!!!
Pre March 99 takes the old body 250. Also 150 and Broncos fit.. Picked up a 6-8" drop off of E-bay which will work better with my lift. The 4" I bought doesn't have enough drop...
I wish I had known this, now I have a 4" I can't use!!
Why do you need one at all? What is the difference in angles of your drag link and track bar? If these are parallel, then you don't need a DPA.
My track bar ran out of reach when I lifted so I had to drop it back down. So now the angle on the track bar is around 12* and the angle on the drag link is around 25*
I wnet back and added about 2" more lift which puts it about 7" total lift and went ahead and ordered a drop pitman for a 6-8" lift setup. I can then adjust my track bar angle to even them out.
So now the angle on the track bar is around 12* and the angle on the drag link is around 25*
Well, in that case, yes you would need one. Personally, I would have simply added a longer track bar so as not to put added stress on the track bar frame mount. Since when lifting the vehicle, the frame ends of both links raise the same amount (because they are both mounted to the frame), you shouldn't need to lower anything.
Just to clarify, this measurement should be made on the line that passes between the mounting points of each of these links.....not on the bend of the links...
