Ok so its not really about a 99-03 7.3 liter diesel, except the fact that it will be sitting in the back of it!
Any of you fellas know how to clean old diesel out of an older slip tank?
So far what I am doing is draining the old diesel out, then I was going to rinse it out with some fresh diesel, drail it out, rinse it out again, put a new filter on the pump then use it.
By rinsing it, all I can really do is empty it with the pump, put a little fresh diesel in, then shake it up abit by driving, then empty it again.
you should have a bung on the bottom of the tank. with a drain pan underneath, take out the bung and thread in a valve (or something with the same thread) leading to a rubber hose. you can crimp the hose to slow down and stop the flow. when the tank is empty you can put in some stones, and some fuel, and shake the hell out of it. dump out the stones and fuel and blow it out with air. nice nice?
Right now it doesnt have a filter, but before I actually use it, it will have one. I never actually checked to see if it has a bung on the bottom, I just assumed it wouldnt.
The diesel in there is at least 10 years old. It does burn really well though, I have used some for firestarter all readdy!
Also are you guys serious about the stones? Might sound dumb, but how big of a stone would a guy use? Like a handful of marble sized pebbles?
