ive been workin on my van here and there for a lil over a year now, and its time to get serious, im lookin to do a frame off resto, and i was wondering if i can get poly suspention bushings? also i really don't like how small the front axle is, its a dana 44 and if i remember right, they used the d44 out of early broncos, it looks as if a pot hole will snap it, i do have a d44 from a 74 highboy that is way "beefier" with way bigger hubs, but it has drum brakes, anyone know of a "cheap" way to convert that to disc?
second part, right now it has a 1969 351w 4v with a c6, it has a small rod nock so its gotta come out anyways, i want to make it efi, i have the intake, injectors, rails, throttle body ect. from a 96 bronco that i was plannin on using, what i want is a good efficent, high torqe build im goin mostly for millage and torqe, but still want enough hp to do a lil mudding here and there, and i was wondering what would be the better way to start the 69 351 (ive heard the heads are better pre 71?) or build the 78 with a set of heads off the newer explorer 5.0's? the tranny will be a e40d im hopin for something like 300hp and 400lbs of torqe is 15mpg possible?
first ? is frame widths
I know on newer trucks the frame is differant from the vans
will mean redoing the spring perch
only cheap way to do disc conv. is to find a donor vehicle
to do a factort F.I. you would be good to get a donor vehicle as well
complete wire harness
fuel tanks and pumps
all the sensors
computer that also runs the E4OD www.fordfuelinjection.com
this site is a great place for F.I. info
im not to worried about frame widths, as the van is coil springs up front not unlike the f-150 set up (70's f-150) and i would need to weld up the mounts anyways, and i do have the tanks already from a efi vani had a few years ago, and if im not mistakin i just need a puter out of a vehicle that has a e40d... say a 92+ f-150 or bronco or van?
the van harness will be easier to use
may have to change some wire locations that
go to the fire wall or where the computer mounts
the other thing to consider is whether to change
the sys. to mass air while going to this extreme
mass air is so much better for engine upgrades
i guess i thought all the efi's after 91 or 92 were mass air, i do remember that the 78 van and the 86 van's fire wall looked pretty much the same where the puter sat, even if i have to modify the firewall witch i might have to do to get a/c (not sure) alls i would have to do is cut out a newer one and weld it in place, im planin on takin this thing down to the shell and painting it with the qr15 is it? and then dynomating everything, when i was on the just12volt forum i was told about this stuff used for roofing that is pretty much identical to dynomat and for a 36'' by 35 foot rool was 100 bucks or something, i want it really quiet inside and insulated well (puttin insulation over the dynomat) also has anyone made there own rear a/c b4? i want the back to be a u bench with a table the folds down into a bed, with 4 12'' and 4 15'' subs facing the rear doors and i want to have a/c vents and heater vents to come out of the bench
i know its a d44 up front, the axle tubes are just really skinny compared to the f-250's, were can i get the poly bushings? have not ever really looked at the axle to see if it has ball joints, the gears are all messed up and it shot the carrier pin out the diff cover, i replaced both axles with 2.5 ton rockwells

Dana 44 axle tubes were all the same , I would bet its a D30 from a early bronco.
